Analytical frameworks on the DEEP may be used for various purposes, including humanitarian needs analysis, situation analysis, protection monitoring, risk analysis, etc.
The standard analytical framework (generic framework) on DEEP proposes three intersector pillars (scope and scale, humanitarian conditions, and operational constraints), that can be analysed by using multisectoral tags. In addition, the framework allows for more general contextual information to be stored, including more general information on communicating with communities and other cross cutting themes such as humanitarian access. As highlighted, analytical frameworks are used to structure analytical thinking, that will help ensure data analysis leads to outcomes. The Generic Framework on DEEP has as its outcome that it allows for the understanding of current and forecasted priority needs (geographical areas, affected groups, and sectoral needs).
The proposed generic framework was adapted mainly from the MIRA framework (2015) and the UNICEF inter sector Framework (2016). It has been used multiple times as a reference in the past three years (e.g. for the Global Crisis Severity Index, SINA in Syria, Coordinated Data Scramble, the humanitarian profile support package, etc.).
